TSUNAMI of 11 February, 2011 (Concepcion, Chile)

A Strong earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.8 (USGS magnitude) occurred at 20:05:31 UTC 11 February, 2011 (day 042) and was located 25 miles/40 km N of Concepcion, Chile (36.479S, 73.000W, 17.4mi/28.0 km depth--USGS location).

This earthquake produced a tsunami that was recorded at tide gages monitored by the National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC). Many observatories provide data to the centers; such as the NOAA National Ocean Service, the U. of Hawaii Sea Level Center, the Chilean Navy, and the National Tidal Facility in Australia among others.
