Talaud Islands Tsunami of 11 February 2009

A major earthquake with a moment magnitude of 7.2 (USGS magnitude) occurred at 17:34:50 UTC 11 February 2009 (day 042) and was located 174 miles/278 km SSE of General Santos, Mindanao, Philippines (3.9N, 126.4E, 12.4mi/19.8km depth--USGS location).

This earthquake produced a small tsunami that was recorded at the tide gage at Davao, Philippine Islands. Many observatories provide data to the Tsunami Warning Centers; such as the NOAA National Ocean Service, the Japanese Meteorological Agency, the U. of Hawaii Sea Level Center, the Chilean Navy, and the National Tidal Facility in Australia among others.
