TSUNAMI of 21 July, 2013 (New Zealand)
A moderate earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.5 (USGS magnitude) occurred at 05:09:31 UTC 21 July 2013 (day 202) and was located 29 mi/46 km ESE of Blenheim, New Zealand (41.713S, 174.443E, 8.7 mi/14.0 km depth--USGS location).
This earthquake produced a small tsunami that was
recorded at tide gages monitored by the National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC).
Many observatories provide data to the centers; such as the NOAA National Ocean Service, the U. of
Hawaii Sea Level Center, the Chilean Navy, the Japan Meteorological Ageny and the National Tidal Facility in Australia among others.
