TSUNAMI of 21 November 2004

A strong earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.3 occurred at 1141 UTC 21 November 2004 and was located near the Leeward Islands, 20 km south of Terre-de-Bas, Guadeloupe (15.69N, 61.65W, 14km depth - USGS location).

Early reports from residents in the town of Trois Rivieres, Guadeloupe indicate the sea level dropped by 50 cm and withdrew 100 m, followed by a 'ground swell'.
