TSUNAMI of 26 November 1999

A major earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.3 occurred at 1321 UTC 26 November 1999 and was located near the Vanuatu Islands.(16.3S 168.3E).


The earthquake produced a tsunami that was recorded at the following tide gages (operated by the National Tidal Facility of the Flinders University of South Australia, NOAA/National Ocean Survey, and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center):
